Here is a little demo I cooked up to show how real-time shadow volumes are made with OpenGL. This use's zfail shadow volumes, the technique John Carmack uses in the popular Doom 3 videogame.

  • Can you explain me how you use z-fail algorithm? :F

    I use z-pass watch?v=9SVuJdSEdk4

And I have closed shadow volumes

But the z-fail algorithm dosen't work properly :S some tips will be helpfull

  • Just make sure your silhouette detection is properly made. Draw your caps and silhouette in the color buffer to look for any anomalies.

  • z-pass or z-fail?

  • One or the other, switchable at will.
