This is an extraordinarily fine performance of a very beautiful work by a great, and too little recognised master. Schein, in addition to being one of the composers (along with his friend, Schütz) who brought the Italian style into German sacred music, was also a twofold predecessor of Sebastian Bach: first as Kappelmeister at the court of Weimar, then as Kantor of the Thomasschule in Leipzig.

es ist dies die wundervollste Art, Scheins "Israels Brünnlein " zu interpretieren.
