The date was Sept. 28, 1996 in Ames, Iowa. It was Missouri vs. Iowa State. To this day, Troy Davis is the only player in the history of college football to rush for 2,000 yards in consecutive seasons. A good chunk of that yardage came at the expense of Missouri on this day. Davis rushed 41 times for 378 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-31 win over the Tigers. At the time, it was the third-highest rushing total in NCAA history.
Pete Taylor and Eric Heft described every juke and cutback to perfection.
