This is Judy, two days after her 14th birthday. Recorded Friday, June 12, 1936, this is her earliest Decca recording available.
Written by Edgar Sampson, Chick Webb, Benny Goodman, and Andy Razaf, Judy is backed by Bob Crosby and his Orchestra. This record was intended to promote Judy's popularity as MGM tried to discover film vehicles for her. This record features "Swing Mister Charlie" as its b-side, and if requested, I'll post that.
What a voice! There has never been a singer since!
Judy did not record for Decca until over a year later. This was her last Decca recording session done in New York until 1945.

  • Awesome video! I agree there has never been such a singer since. You would never say that was a 14 year old singing. Brilliant. PLEASE post "Swing Mister Charlie"!

  • The premiere singer of our time.

  • Thank you for putting up this vid. and reminding us that music used to have a melody, and singers SANG!

  • One of my favorites. Her voice was stunning.

  • do adore this song~ :)

  • I am addicted to "play again" button

  • I LOVE this song! My new favourite! And Judy is amazing. Shes my idol =D

  • @inukirby992 Yes Harry Roy was good. He wasn't a great singer but that's why I like him. He bucked the British trend by imitating American accents and using instrumental solos in his recordings.

  • @112ALONE But Swing was a worldwide phenomenon! Harry Roy led an orchestra, and he was British. Also it's a bit unnerving to find I'm the same age as her when she recorded this.

  • @Vengeance509 assuming that is sarcasm, i completely agree with you. no one in this time understands that this is THE best music out there. its good old AMERICA.
