PLEASE READ THIS - Here is the fourth, and last, dance sequence from the 1955 film, "Son of Sinbad". The abundance of 50s cheesecake in this film, which was directed by Ted Tetzlaff, earned it a Condemned rating by the Catholic Legion of Decency. The dancer is Sally Forrest (born Catherine Sally Feeney), a trained dancer from San Diego who had a reasonably successful career as a dramatic actor, largely because of her association with Ida Lupino.

I am always looking for new ideas for this series. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

  • Its really great there are so many admirers of Sally Forrest, an immensely talented dancer who's numbers were the highlight of this film, the Red Skelton turn-of-the century comedy Excuse My Dust and the Mickey Rooney film-noir vehicle The Strip (as in Las Vegas). Ironically, Sally became more known as a film-noir actress (Ida Lupino's Not Wanted, Otto Preminger's Whirlpool, John Sturges' Mystery Street, Fritz Lang's When The City Sleeps).

  • A few nights ago I watched a western called "Vengeance Valley" (1951) with Burt Lancaster and Robert Walker. I was surprised and delighted to see that Sally Forrest played Lily, the nice young woman who is disgraced when she bears a child out of wedlock to Robert Walker, the married son of of the influential, wealthy local cattle rancher. She was a very competent actress.

Thanks for the alert on those noirs - I'll try to track them down.

  • A lot of dances in this film. But all women dance with shoes, it's so less sexy than barefoot.

  • I'm sure there is a species of foot fetishist out there who would not agree with that comment.

  • to pwgr2000

i did'nt know Sally Forrest she is not bad at all.

by the way may I suggest Rondha Fleming in Queen of Babylone and in the Son of AliBaba (1953) a dancer with a golden mask in the same spirit that obviously you appreciate

    a bientot

  • Many thanks for these suggestions. I'll see if I can find these films for this series.

  • LOL! The dance looked more like a stripper with a pole. I loved the collective sighs of the women when Sinbad grabbed the girl and kissed her. LOL!

  • better quality uploaded as: Sally Forrest in "Son of Sinbad" (1955) by exoticdance

  • we need more movies like this today.

  • Years ago I bought the VHS of Vengeance Valley off ebay for about $9 autographed by Sally Forrest at an autograph show. Very few remember her but any film with Sally Forrest is worth checking out and a few are on DVD, otherwise TCM and AMC plays some. She was a protege of noir director Ida Lupino in HARD, FAST AND BEAUTIFUL and NEVER FEAR besides the aforementioned NOT WANTED and they starred together in WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS (not When The City Sleeps as I earlier wrote).

  • Oh my.... a pole dance ! Makes you wonder how old the art of pole dancing is.....
