"The King Is Gone", originally by Ronnie McDowell, was the first tribute song ever recorded after Elvis died.

I've been wanting to record this for many years and decided this year I'd get it out and do a video.

The song rings true because I was 6 when I remember really getting into Elvis music and that's how the songs lyrics were originally written.

Elvis Presley's music had much more of an affect on my life than I ever thought was possible especially considering I was only 11 in 1977.

Recently I came across some old movie footage of me singing Elvis I believe in 1973. One clip shows me listening to Elvis Aloha from Hawaii on my old portable record player. I know it's Aloha because I got that album for Christmas that year and if you watch the video you can see the orange label on the Aloha album.

"The King Is Gone" is of personal memories of Elvis so I decided to include pictures of my early and recent day performances as I tribute to how much Elvis and his music meant to my life.

The only thing I changed slightly was the ending of the song where Ronnie McDowell says..."Goodbye Elvis we'll miss ya"

The change is slight but I decided to update it a bit and say..."Yea Elvis, we still miss ya man!"

I figured it would be nice to end the video showing pictures of just some of the many Elvis tribute artist I shared the stage with on Fremont Street in Las Vegas this past May as well as some local tribute artist and friends from here in Las Vegas.

I believe it helps kind of puts the whole Elvis phenomenon into perspective

Never did I imagine Elvis impact on music would be as strong 34 years later as it still is today.

Thank you for watching.

God Bless!
