People who say HPS is better are full of shit. I like LED's better. They save a lot of energy, they are more efficient, and they put out a lot less light pollution. And yes, I am very opinionated when it comes to lights. White lights are the best! DESTROY ALL HPS! DESTROY ALL HPS! THEY MAKE OUR WORLD LOOK LIKE HELL!

There are so many LEDs from many manufacturers claiming same things. I represent a simple lighting company. Yet the customer demands technology which can be applied by many vendors - SEAK Energetics. And it is hard to compare LED vs. HPS. Why not rather compare it with Metalhalide?

@valarmanwe I visited Germany recently, a small town in the south west in Baden Württemberg. They always had lovely white light and now they are changing to yellow sodium crap. It was so nice to see a place with white light, now it's mostly yellow and what's left will be changed soon. Germany of all places I thought would have changed to L.E.D but oh no yellow sodium is the cheapest form of light and all Germany is concerned about is money and Co2 emissions, and not particle matter, big mistake!

@o00scorpion00o I remember when the white street lights were replaced with these bloody awful sodium contraptions in the early / mid `70`s. I never thought I`d live to see the day when that decision would be reversed. It`s so good to see grass and hedges and trees at night being green, and red berries hanging from the trees once more. I`ve waited 40 years for this. Sad, but alas true !

NEWS FLASH! LED street lights are much less efficient and reliable than the sodium vapour lights they replaced!

we used to have the old white lights in Ireland years ago and they changed it to that yellow orange crap. I hate it so much! In built up areas it should be forbidden. I think they did a survey some years ago and it found that yellowish street lights can make people more depressed! I bet it's true! I sure prefer white light!

Sodium lighting is more efficient, LED lighting also does not provide uniform lighting, sky glow is produced not by the fixture but the road reflecting the light up into the sky.

These new LED lights look much better and bring us into the 21st Century hopefully we will start to get them in the very near future.
