Here, we show you how to grow a Kombucha "baby" without a "mother" by using a bottle of kombucha tea. It just has to be unpasteurized and unflavored. This is one method of starting a baby culture. Experiment with other ingredients! let us know how they work out for you. This video is for people who know a little bit about kombucha, so there is less detail. For people who are having difficulty with growing a baby, I sometimes run into times when it doesn't work. The times that it has been the most successful is when I have grown it in temperatures above 85 degrees. I did one recently where the temp was about a steady 65-70 degrees and nothing happened. So I am going to try to grow it in an incubator box at about 90 degrees and see what happens! Feel free to post a video response of your successful baby-mama! here are some links to check out: http://www.foodrenegade.com/how-to-gr... http://www.mothering.com/discussions/... http://kombuchatea.tribe.net/thread/2... http://loveyourmother.livejournal.com... http://www.recipezaar.com/kombucha-sc... One idea that some recipes call for actually pouring the kombucha drink into the big jar with out adding anything and letting the mother form on the kombucha tea. Then add the tea and sugar after the scoby has formed.

usually it takes a few brews & reproductions for the full effects of kombucha to take place. keep on making it with each offspring your batches produce and i'm sure eventually it will get fizzy and the flavor will develop nicely.

I'm thinking my house is too cold for the scoby to thrive :(
