This Backstage of Princess Mononoke consists of 3 documentary series directed by Toshio URATANI, who rolled a small VCR for overall of 300 hours (before editing of course!)during his 2-year reporting of Studio Ghibli and its struggles in making the phenomenal animation film Princess Mononoke (released in 1997).

The 3 series proceed as follows:

The 1st series starts as 1-1/14 and ends at 1-14/14.
The 2nd series starts as 2-1/15 and ends at 2-15/15.
The 3rd series starts as 3-1/15 and ends at 3-15/15 (the end.)

Lastly, the opening phrase of ''Crawl the closest to the ideal point each moment, and the whole those procedures'll make what one calls the works,'' by Ghibli's Director Hayao Miyazaki, holds true not only for the animators but also for all of whom with any sense of creativity or any kind of ambition.

Enjoy this great series anyway anyhow then ( ;

  • I just can't stand the fact that 3d computer animation has to be the next thing....i just,can't accept it...the technique,the years of training,look at what CGI made at the Ghost in the shell 2 innonce, pure crap,solid state society was the best one ever.

  • omg can u imagine how much work there is to make such a movie ...most of it hand drawn....amazing

  • I'm so glad I found this it shows how hard work and sticking to your and never giving up pays off in the end.

  • This is why I will heart 2D animation forever! 2D animators work harder and way more passionate rather than 3D's which more or less just relies on the computer too much.
