A new breed of Texas Songwriters emerged in the 1970s, led by Townes Van Zandt
who believed in writing a song for the sake of the song not for commercial success. He influenced a new generation of songwriters, including Guy Clark, Blaze Foley, Steve Earl, Lucinda Williams, John Prine, Emmy Lou Harris and others. This class examines their lives and music, and includes listening to and playing their songs, and watching videos of their performances. It is for music fans, songwriters, and guitar players.
Frank Delaney is a singer/songwriter who has performed at coffeehouses and clubs, including the Northwest Folklife Festival and Spokane Folklore Society Festivals, and is a folk music researcher/historian who has taught guitar and music workshops for many years.
