Drastic & minor changes have been slightly tweaked
for the latest release of Ubuntu.

* A new login screen
* Most items within the Operating System have been changed in a different user friendly-eye-candy way
* This latest version seems to require a lot more power to run on lower hardware

PROS: Completely stable, fashioned looks, and nice feel.

CONS: It's slower than it's predecessor (11.04) A couple of obvious bugs, and it almost seems that Ubuntu won't be supporting lower hardware anymore.
The GUI (Graphics User Interface) seems to require a higher GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) now.

Let us hope 12.04 will be faster.

  • Dude your videos are good but please please please pronounce Ubuntu correctly. Its not Unbuntu, it Ubuntu (YOU-BUN-TOO) other than that good review :)

  • @burstpipes I assure you. I am not pronouncing Ubuntu wrong. I have an accent that is subtle. Thanks, though (:

  • I think it mimics mac osx far too much.

  • @Computermaniac9999 You sir, may be correct. The company has been trying too hard making Ubuntu feel and look like two OS connected together; Windows and Mac.

Although, we do have an alternate rather than Unity.

Gnome 3 (: I have a video, so check it out.

  • "open up a foder.."

  • @cj061. Absolute nonsense. Ubuntu is faster than Windows. I expect you work for MS in some form. Ubuntu does not cost $100+. Sure, Microsoft compatible programs have problems.

For everyday home computing (browsing the web and word processing) Ubuntu is better than windows and it is free.

  • @Thucydides411 All right, I respect your opinion, and I'll leave it at that.

Gnome 3 is actually really good though.

  • @MicroHelper I didn't hear any mention of bugs in the review, just a mention of "a few obvious bugs" in the description below the video. You could have demonstrated a couple of the more bizarre bugs in 11.10, like self-resizing windows, uncontrollable touchpad pointers, third-party debs requiring installation through the terminal and broken nautilus typeahead functionality.

Thanks for the review though. Ubuntu 11.10 is obviously inferior to Mac and Windows. Let's hope 12.04 is usable again.

  • @Thucydides411 Hey there, I obviously told most of the bugs in the description. I to am dissapointed with the latest release of Ubuntu. I just support the company because of all the hard work they've been doing with Unity. Canoical doesn't usually make desktop environments. It was always Gnome, which is why this is buggy.

You've got your facts wrong. I did mention about this, and I did say the obvious in the video.

Thanks for not swearing, by the way. I usually receive comments very negatively.

  • This review gives the false impression that 11.10 is an improvement over 11.04, since it only shows the new eye candy. What it doesn't show is the deluge of major bugs. Example: because of a bug in the Software Center, you have to install Chrome through the command line. Another one: the file browser is very buggy now - you can't type to select files. The guy who made this review should have mentioned these things, since he obviously came across these bugs. This is the worst release yet.
