Were you that good at speaking japanese when you first left to go to japan? or did you develop your japanese as you were there? please answer.
polslu 1 year ago
@polslu I was able to talk from the beginning. I was surprised myself. but I wasn't fluent of course I was stuttering here and there and made lot's of bad grammar. this video was 5 months after I got there.

@munkhjapan00 Did you know any Japanese before you started learning it (you mentioned studying for only a year)? What American (I assume this is where you live) high school level foreign language class do you think you had finished when you left for Japan? Japanese 2? 3? I'm interested in being an exchange student in the near future, but am worried my language skills are no where near up to the task yet. Thank you!

@inuhimesama late answer...oh well XP
Before going I studied Japanese for 1 school year. And by "studied" I mean studied with full heart. I studied in Mongolia, my school was a very Japan orientated school and taught Japanese well.
Also I think It'd be okay to not worry that much on Japanese skills, most of the other foreign students in the program knew only beginner level sentences but they rapidly learned. You should worry on finding a program and actually going to Japan first
