Must see! Way too close for comfort!

As the northbound Texas Eagle 22 was barreling through the countryside, south of Joliet Union Station, I saw a vehicle fast approaching the scene. Since there aren't any crossing gates at this location, I signaled to the driver that a train was coming. The driver gave me a weird look and stopped. As I focused on my video, I heard the truck accelerate, so I quickly turned and got him running the crossing, less than 4 seconds before the train flew across, doing every bit of 79 MPH. One of the closest calls I've ever recorded on film.... but not the closest I've ever seen. I wonder what Concord Construction Services would think about their employee's actions. I'd report the license plate, but in these troubled times, I don't want to risk somebody's job.

I would report the liscence plate. If somebody is that careless about their life, they obviously aren't too concerned about their job.

8 seconds from the time the idiot in the pickup truck crossed until the AmTrak went by. That guy sure puts himself in jeapardy doing that in a Chevy.

Good vid of the Texas Eagle but I'd sure report the driver. You've got the video for his boss to watch. There's no excuse for stupidity... just a few seconds and tragedy would've happened AND possible injury to you even though you were standing behind where most debris would travel.
