Thats what I did when mine broke. Got an arcade, put on my old hdd, and used my old cables.

Lol at the "brick" comment. You don't know the true purpose of the brick. It's supposed to protect your electric socket and your xbox 360 from a power outage which puts it at a risk of shorting out. It also conserves some energy to, essentially, save energy.
