It sucks that this couldn't be arranged so that the melody line didn't get completely distorted (and yes, I understand that that's almost impossible to avoid without using male altos/countertenors).

We did this SATB, and it's one of my favorites that we've done, but I almost wish that our men's emsemble had done this instead of all of us. This is absolutely beautiful. Good job, guys.

is this a special arrangement? or did you use the orignal? if an arrangement, who did it?

Arrangement is by Paul Manz as dhenkel2 correctly identified. and I do not believe this is a special arrangement. Sadly I no longer have the music sheet but if you would like I think I may be able to get the music sheet again within a week or so (sadly our copies are owned by the school and that song is not on our list for this coming yeear :( )
