I remember that I instantly started using Slime Knights the first time I played this game - a good fighter with good healing spells has always been my favourite combo of abilities. =D

@Laurelindo Pierre is the man. Good attacker with great healing abilities makes him a great combo.

Jailcat was an pretty good starter monster. Idk if you could get him in the SNES version but you can in the DS one.

@DannyDMF2 Sadly the jailcats aren't available until DQ8. You are right though they are pretty good starter monster.

That is true. Now that you mention it I think there are some worse monsters than the slime.

When I originally played this game I thought the same thing! I was like, "I got a communist slime in my group."

I have gotten a good many of them. I usually just go with the ones that are easier to join.
