These three clips are drum cams from Chardon High School's musical production, "The Sound of Music," taken on Friday, March 26, 2010. This is my first video I've uploaded with a Remo Black X and Puresound 30-stand wires on my Pearl Reference Series brass snare drum. It's definitely the best sound I've been able obtain; just incredible! Big thanks to Travis Orbin (youtube account 'shaftninja') for helping me produce such a great sound.
The first clip is a little warmup improv thing I did two hours or so before the show. Because the horrid acoustics I had to use brushed so I wouldn't piss too many people off.
Second clip is part of the "Entr'act." Playing so softly was certainly a challenge in and of itself!
The third clip comes in at the very end of "Bows and Exits," when all of the cast and crew turn toward the pit and applaud. It was such a great feeling that I just had to throw my arms up in the air, which sadly was not captured by that disgusting camera angle. After our recognition, everyone on stage does a reprise of sorts of "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," and we jump back into "Bows and Exits" one last time as the house lights turn back on. Believe it or not, this was the loudest I played the entire show! lol
Look out for new videos coming soon, including CHS Jazz Ensemble performances and new ideas for my metal project, Nautilus.
