6/7/2010- Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) said that HTC Corp.'s high-speed EVO phone broke its previous sales record for sales of any single phone in one day when it went on sale Friday, according to a Reuters report.
The company did not give a specific sales number for the launch on Friday but said that strong demand led to temporary shortages at some locations. The shortages also hit some RadioShack (NYSE:RSH), Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) and Wal-Mart Stores (NYSE:WMT).
The EVO is the first U.S. phone to support fourth generation high-speed Internet services. Sprint is working with HTC to increase inventory.
