@avast86 Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I am fascinated by all European diesel rail traction, since here in Australia motive power is dominated by EMD, GE and older ALCo engines. Can you still be arrested in Russia for photographing or filming trains?
And I thought the American ALCos were bad polluters ...

@StuC5 Diesel engine that is installed on diesel locomotives in Rossi not such strong pollution than gasoline engines in cars. This locomotive traveled to Moscow as an experiment for driving heavy trains, two years of the experiment was abandoned because the trains are less powerful locomotives of series 2M62 here go. I translate through the translator, so forgive sorry some possible inaccuracies in translation.

@StuC5 There is no formal ban on photography. Furthermore, amateur photography, taking pictures from a platform at the station or stations, railway officially allowed. Of course, not all knows this and can give to the police, but also fine for going to the railway (100 RUR = ~ 3 USD) there is nothing else.

Forbidden to photograph special trains carrying members of the Government (called "liternye") and the only trains that transported soldiers and military equipment. Typically, this freight train, in which the "indoor" cars (cars with roof) peredelanny, a soldier with a stove ("potbelly stove") inside heating and wagons-platforms on which rides technique. These trains are known as "Eshelon."
