The picture is not of Sonia Ganassi, but Marianne Cornetti. Ponselle is not a mezzo soprano and neither is Antonacci.

@rosen10kavalier I’m glad that you know her now. Another great mezzo-soprano was Elena Nicolai (1905-1993), one of the leading mezzo-sopranos for twenty years at La Scala. So, you can now modify your list and by removing the names of Ponselle, Urmana and Antonacci, who were/are sopranos and replacing them with the ones of Cernei and Nocolai and Arkhipova.

Interesting how the french makes him bring the voice forward & he is as close to he ever was at actual singing. A pitch problem here & there but still a good performance for hi. I bet he was great in the final scene.

@rosen10kavalier Well, one cannot include all mezzo-sopranos, however, one of the most fascinating for me is Elena Cernei.
Thank you for the nice video.

Thanks a lot for this interesting clip with
so many pictures of the past and present
distinguished mezzo sopranos. Of course
the tenor voice of Del Monaco is
overwhelming. Regards
