2009 Classroom on the Quad

The annual Classroom on the Quad featured speakers and panel discussions around the theme of the Future of Military Service. April 1, 2009

Speakers included:

• Lt. General David Poythress, retired Georgia State Adjutant General and an Emory alumnus who currently is running for governor of Georgia. He has previously served as Georgia's Secretary of State and Commissioner of Labor.

• Peter Warren Singer, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, who is a leading expert on changes in 21st century warfare and a widely published author. He also served as coordinator of the Defense Policy Task Force for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.
