Running a Haas VF5 that i programmed to machine a heavy duty suspension part for Hendrickson. Supposedly for a large truck or military vehicle. The part gets machined in 3-axis mode. First it gets drilled in 8 places, then the 8 inch slitter saw cuts the top and bottom to size, then it is rough bored (core drill) then reamed to size, to be prepared for a bushing to be fit.

I wrote the program for this, and i maintained the machine. I setup the fixture and operation and did all of my own gauging and verification from start to finish. It was extremely efficient with the exception of using a reamer instead of a boring head, and the fact that the mill had to switch to another tool after changing the tool to the 8" slitter saw, due to its oversize tool width. Improvised movements and tool usage more than doubled production speed.
