thinking, i've come up with a way to do it with one servo... and no loss of functionality.

Yeah, but when the rudders are pulled back if they move even a little they fall out of alignment, and when pulled back to open they could tear the mechanism rendering it useless. What do you do to stabilize the rudders so they don't move after being disconnected so that they could slide back into place properly?
