The only keyboards I can really compare it to are various office-supply-store-brand rubberdomes I owned way back when, the Razer Tarantula, and the SteelSeries 7G.
Compared to your generic rubberdomes, the quality is great.
Compared to the Razer Tarantula, it's good.
Compared to the SS7G, it doesn't really stack up, although that's the difference between plate mounted, and PCB mounted.
I have a TE that I've modified to use a variant of the HitBox layout, for when I play on console.
Although, I may be switching back to playing on joystick on console, since I'm moving to Austin on Friday, and ArcadeUFO probably won't allow me to jury rig one of their cabs to use keyboard-like schemes :P
I will always be a keyboard warrior on PC, and at tournaments where I have the choice, though.

Do you plan on getting a HitBox arcade stick?
It seems like it would be perfect for a Keyboard player such as yourself.
