I believe Purcell is mid baroque, not renaissance. I don't think you can sing this piece correctly without singing the fioriture on the vibrato. No way to sing it correctly without vibrato. I would have to look back at the bel canto masters's texts, but I believe they spoke of vibrato.
I agree with the guy who said these are both sung too fast.
The audio is bad, hard to tell exactly what is going on with the voice . . . . maybe a little too open on top? Keep studying, voice is tough!
Good onya mate, THEMASTERS who offer advice, I sure hope they have attempted to sing the same pieces. Obvioously they have performed them at a level even Henry Legay or Alain Vanzo could only dream of. Well as all aspiring singers do you learn and get better!
Do not be afraid of the music, it seems to me that you have too much respect. Love the music and sing along that music as if it was your partner. There is nice musicality, you only have to dare to let it go. Do not controll it by body or brains :)
Don't flap your body around when you sing, its distracting... or conduct yourself with your head, or show your breaths. It ruins what you're doing vocally.

omg you blitzed through 'music for a while'...it's meant to be so very slow and careful...
you have a pretty good tone, but keep in mind that vibrato wasn't used in the manner that it is today - if needed at all, it was minimal.
