This is a promotional video of the annual GIMISTORY FESTIVAL in the Cayman islands. It is edited extracts of storytelling by Marc Matthews, Alex Neptune, Dave Martins, Ken Corsbie (Guyana), Nasaria Sookhoo ( Cayman), Samantha Pierre, David Bereaux and Friends (Trinidad). Most of these performances were taken from the "duppy" (ghost) story night on a beach.
GIMISTORY, created by Henry Muttoo (artistic director of the National Cultural Foundation) has a unique format in the world of storytelling.This one week festival is free to the community including after-show snacks of fritters, fried fish, and "swankie".
Here's a question - Why aren't there storytelling festivals in other English speaking Caribbean islands?
