If you lack any and all appreciation for what little the subtly is left in this video after the title and annotations, let me say it clearly here: The point here is NOT to comapre vegetarianism to religion. it's to compare one group of people I have an opposing position on to another. The point is about how I don't have a problem with groups like vegetarians, and I don't make videos about their position etc. because of how DIFFERENT they are from religious people, not because of how similar they are.
I could have used any group whatsoever to make this contrast about how most groups that I don't belong to DON'T do the things that religous groups do which I have a problem with. Vegetarians are just an arbitrary group that I don't belong to which I happened to use for this point. Instead of seeing that so many people decided to make an anti-meat-eatting argument out of the whole thing, which totally misses the point. If you wish to comment about vegetarianism, do it HERE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPWPSU7lLyg

I am not a vegetarian. I do understand why some people are vegetarians, but their reasons for that position simply don't apply to me. I don't look for fights with vegetarians, over their choice to not eat meat just because I happen to like it. I don't consider myself any more intelligent than those who deny themselves the consumption of meat, nor do I try to convince them that it's what they should do. People's dietary choices are their own business, not mine. There are some vegetarians I end up arguing with however. Those who refuse to accept my position as an omnivore usually evoke some form of retaliation from me. I'm referring to the extremists who feel I shouldn't be entitled to my own nutritional choices based on their personal food philosophies.
Even those people I don't go out looking for a fight with, I merely respond to their zeal against me. Now if vegetarians where trying have their non-meat eating agenda forced upon me by law, or thrust into the public education system, I'd be a little upset. If they tried to outlaw meat, or hang irrelevant vegetable symbols in our courthouses, or insert the phrase "meat is murder," into our pledge and onto our currency, I'd have beef with them, so to speak. If they went about threatening children who ate meat with eternal torture for not sharing their culinary preferences, I'd be tempted to accuse them of child abuse and respond to them with the level of aggression appropriate for that offense.
If groups of vegetarians picketed the funerals of ranchers and butchers, I'd be justified in calling them assholes. If they insisted they were right because of a book written thousands of years ago about a man's story recorded decades after his death, who claimed to be all-knowing, and said meat was wrong, I'd be justified in calling them insane. If they claimed that a magical, invisible ear of corn spoke to them through telepathy, and informed them of their life decisions, I'd be justified in calling them delusional. If those same vegetarians said I should just shut up about the subject because I don't even believe in vegetarianism, so by arguing about it I only proved them right, I'd be justified in calling them fallacious. If they told me that killing animals was wrong, so they started wars or committed outlandish acts of violence which killed thousands of people for doing it, I'd be justified in calling them hypocritical.
Fortunately, not many vegetarians behave this way, so I don't need to address them. But if there was a group like this, especially if it was an overwhelming oppressive majority group, I could think of some strong reasons to address them publicly on a large forum like this. If premier members of that group made videos of their own, but refused to accept comments, responses or video ratings, I'd have to call them cowardly. Good thing vegetarians don't tend to behave that way, huh?

  • Great analogy- well presented.

  • Just let them think about one think: Plants are living things too. If they want not to kill a living thing, they have to starve to death, or learn to photosynthesize.

Plants are just as worthy as animals. And vegetarians doing it for a "moral" cause are dumber than a plant.

    Cheers

  • @demoloader12: Its a tangent.Just how you had to* comment on the weirdness of people talking about one thing when the video is about another thing,I had to* comment on the bullshit trick0171 was saying.

*Ok,had to may be a bit too strong.Wanted to fits better.

  • @DaemianLucifer

Sorry for reviving a 10 month old debate, but I just can't believe you two just did a rant on meat vs vegies spanning many comment pages, on a video not intended to vegatarinism? ....

  • Grrrr this video made me hungry

  • Good thing vegetarians are not the majority ... other than humanity eventually extinct from horrific malnutrition, there would be no benefit from this moronic over simplification based mostly on emotional blackmail...
