I haven't found any other videos showing the new SlingPlayer mobile for PALM OS, on something other than a TREO phone.

I decided to make a clip of my PALM TX handheld using the Slingplayer that was recently released for PALM OS a couple months ago. I didn't have a camera, but I found a cheap webcam that's been sitting in a dusty box from five years ago. I installed it and tried it out.

As a side note, the webcam quality is not good enough to show the quality of the video on the TX, but rest assured, it is pretty decent and crystal clear. The audio is also very clear from the TX. I placed my clip-on lapel microphone behind the TX to capture the sound better. That's why the audio never changes when the camera moves.

I used Windows Movie Maker to capture the video form the webcam, but I noticed that the video was a second or two from the audio. It might have been my laptop that couldn't handle the load. I don't have a fancy video card. But the audio and video will stay perfectly synced for a little while, but after five or ten minutes, the audio will start getting ahead of the video. I simply remedy this by clicking on the channnel icon during commercials and that'll keep it together until the next commercial. I assume this issue will be fixed in future updates [after all, it was just released and doesn't officially support the TX anyway, yet]. You also cannot use landscape mode at the current time. I see that problem being fixed in future updates as well.

  • does ur slingbox console need to be connected to a wierless router??

  • It doesn't need to be connected to a wireless router, just any broadband router. But, to use your PALM TX to watch it, you will need to have a wireless connection for the PALM. You can plug the Slingbox into a WIRED router and watch it on a TX when you are away from your home where you have a WIFI connection.

  • It's cool, but for whatever reasons I cannot get the latest version to show a volume control anywhere. (On the Treo the side rocker controls volume. In an earlier beta the volume buttons were available, but in the latest production version on-screen buttons are not available in the remote or available for adding to the custom toolbar) It really sucks.

  • i was told you could put a volume button where you put the favorite channel logos.

  • Hey, uh, how did you get your Microphone to work with your palm TX, Please answer this, thank you very much, i can't really get to talk on my TX.

  • i have set it up on pam tx but it wont connect to my slingbox for some reason

  • will this play at the same speed on an iphone

  • ok so this pda does go on youtube?? right

what about hotmail and gmail stuff like that?

    google maps?

and you can watch tv right?

  • It was actually my computer being too slow to record at 30 fps. The video on Slingplayer is pretty smooth. If you noticed, everytime I moved the TX the whole thing is jumpy.
