  • I'm thinking about applying but honestly I don't feel that I am as knowledgeable as the students shown were. I am by no mans stupid but They seem a a higher level than i am and that makes me afraid to even apply

  • Hey,

Thank you for your interest in our seminars! I can understand your concern and fear but you have nothing to worry about. We have a great seminar for beginners that would be great for you. Don't let the video discourage you -- the students are of all levels. The seminar you should apply for is "Exploring Liberty".

Good luck and hopefully we will see you this summer!

  • do u have to sleep over there, or can u commute daily? and is it mostly highschool students?

  • Yes, you do have to sleep there. It is mostly college students and no high school students.

  • @AurianSky I hear you! These kids look way out of my league.

  • I am a justice studies and political science graduate and a graduate student in justice studies as well (Master's) and I just got accepted to the 2009 summer seminar in DC. I am so excited but also worried that I may not have as much to contribute in the lectures and debate. I just moved to the US 4 1/2 years ago and I am trying to catch up with the political and economic issues of this country. I hope to go to law school next year and I am going to use this opportunity to learn from my peers.

  • I can testify to that, I attended the Environment Seminar last year at Berkeley and although most students had more knowledge than I had, I enjoyed that experience thoroughly. Nothing to worry about, on contrary - you learn much more from the people that know more than from those who know less!!

    Good luck

  • ok cool. i applied and i also participated in one of the essay contests. so lets see how it works.thankks for ur feedback.

  • hay babuops, last year i did applied and got selected, my field is Comp Engineering, although i cudn't make it, due to non-issuance of US visa. yet i am confidant i get an opportunity this time, as iam already inside US.....winks....dnt worry and do apply

  • hey i just applied but am from italy and am doing a major in telecommunications which is not close to politics, do you think i will get a chance coz i really want to come and participate in those lively discussions?

  • Hi,

Don't worry about not knowing enough. There will be people at the seminar at all levels, but most will be beginners just like you. I'd suggest applying for our "Exploring Liberty" seminar at Brown University or our "Poverty & Prosperity" seminar. If you are interested in learning more about globalization and environmentalism, I'd check out our "Liberty & Global Sustainability" seminar.

I hope you apply, the seminars are really great!
