In this segment from Organic Living TV with the Hippy Gourmet we meet up with the Ehrlich's, Katy and John - who are the owners of Alderlea Farm. Here we learn how their small 4+ acre land is organically and bio-dynamically tended to feed over 75 families in their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program! Then we learn first-hand what a 'bio-dynamic' stir is, and how it actually increases the fertility of the soil and enhance the nutrition and flavor of all the foods!

  • BC is wonderful all around! Take the family and friends and you'll find more great places to visit and enjoy than probably any other region on the planet!

  • seeing this has made me seriously consider apprenticing at the alderlea farm!

i lived in israel on a kibbutz for 6 months in hopes to learn farming, but they were using harsh pesticides and they wouldn't let women work in the farm so i had to take care of children. this would be such an amazing experience!

  • wow, how awesome! :)

John and Katy have many apprentices all year around, their house is always full of wonderful passionate folks who come from all over the world!

  • wow amazing how you ve taken your intelligence and downgraded it with superstition

on my farm we deal with facts not imagination

and i have real quartz crystals not fairy dust

    hahahah keep trying

  • Why not state what kind of "facts" you deal with on your farm, rather than denigrate what's obviously working for others? Just a thought.

  • What does the silica do exactly? Does it cause a chemical result or a more 'mystical' one?

  • It's a combo platter of chemical reactions and more esoteric mystical aspects really. The best thing to do is do a 'Google' search on Rudolph Steiner who is the father of bio-dynamics to learn more. Or you can also visit the Alderlea Farm website too and ask them directly.

  • very good question, but I have to do something with my old cow when she goes to cow heaven. She gave so much to us, all the milk and other good stuff, but especially the fertility from her manure, holy cow, you should see my compost, eh?

  • Great vidio

  • @mysciencenow what a sad statement to make. It's quite clear that you have no idea what bio-dynamics are really about. It makes you sound so ignorant. Laugh signore, laugh...it's your crops and your soil. Until you taste bio-dyanmically grown food, you will never know what you are missing. But maybe you are curious. Is that why you stopped by to watch?

  • can i come work on your farm?

  • @ShleeJay No, it needs to be exposed to the forces working in the soil/earth in the Spring and Summer, then sprayed into the Air and allowed to settle down onto the leaf surface to activate Photosynthesis. It is not for the soil life, but more for the leaf, sunlight processes. Quartz crystals were created in a much earlier Earth epoc, when the atmosphere was allowing much more/powerful light as well as the Sunlight was different from our time. Quartz caries more of this older stronger impulse.

  • light

  • "electro-magnetic radiation" ??

  • Could you just mix the fine quartz in with the soil?

  • hi its just great more green environm eco friendly food and products etc fr johnnyb.

  • Every single thing I see or hear about BC makes me thing I need to move there.... incredible.
