Part 6/6: Salim Vally is a South African activist and educator, and is the current chair of the South African Palestine Solidarity Commitee and Anti-war Coalition. He was a founding member of COSATU (Congress of South African Trade Unions), who spent many years in prison during the struggle against South African Apartheid. He talks here about Zionism--the apartheid ideology on which the State of Israel is founded--and what its ultimate success means for Palestinians; of Israel's deep sympathies with the former South African apartheid regime, and the close ties--particularly military--which emerged from that; and of effective solidarity and activism in support of the Palestinian's struggle for justice and equal rights in their own land, to which the Palestinian call for Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel until she complies with her obligations to them under international law is seen as central, as the only way toward a peaceful future for all those now living there.
