"OPEN ACT" FOR DUMMIES Commentary

So you thought SOPA and PIPA or even ACTA was a terrible idea? Wait until you educate yourself about this new act, OPEN ACT (OPEN: Online Protection & ENforcement of Digital Trade Act).

This Act will allow the ITC to seek out and remove websites from anywhere on the internet. So If a blog made a post about something they think is infringing any intellectual property rights, they will HAVE the POWER to remove that entire website from the internet (Megaupload is an example website)

That will be the end of the "Free Internet" as we know it and almost if not EVERYTHING will be censored. Getting News or information from other countries would be difficult. The INTERNET MUST REMAIN FREE. Or Freedom of Information or Speech, would be a thing of the past.

Can you go back to live like it was before the Internet?

@BigWillyVlogs LOL, I know that and I shared it on Facebook. That was easy. Sharing on YouTube is what I am having a problem with. You got to enter the emails of everyone and I haven't found how to easily do that. There is no how to videos that I could find on the new sharing system. I consider you a Guru on here, can you teach me the new sharing method. I know you will probably make it look simple and clarify the idiot I am. LOL

@skeletone111 lol, yeah, YouTube sure is making things difficult, okay, to share videos between friends (contacts) on YT

go to youtube.com/address_book [contacts, select up to 25 contacts], then COMPOSE [In the message section, choose the video, not sure, but it only allows you to pick your videos, or previously favourited videos, then write your message, and hit Send]

Rinse and Repeat to send to more people, there :)

You could also try "[all contacts]", but YT probably removed that too :(

coppied by some guy and reuploaded on different video sharing websites. This was lowering my youtube views which i deserved, not he for uploading a video of me talking. So basically i was very happy to make use of the copyright law, and report him to the websites which took the video down. I really do not support any website like megaupload which intentionally allow the share of copyrighted content, to get more views on their ads and get more money that way...

Also, that bill would not have any effect on youtube or any of the sides regular internet users use. Copyrighted stuff may still be in youtube videos etc. if you write who the copyright of that stuff belongs to in the description / have a little copyrightsign with the name of the copyright owner in a picture etc. So this is not limiting anyone. If a side decides to spread copyrighted info without credits to the people who made it. Then i think it should be taken down. I made videos and had them

So, why is this not censoring the internet and instead helping to remove internet crimes: What people do not understand, games and videos are goods like any fruit or anything you can buy in a shop. The difference is that they can be coppied and spread without having to pay for them, which is illegal. Downloading a pirated movie is like going to a store and stealing a DVD of it. I do not undertsand how people can call this: Freedom. It is limiting the freedom of others - so no it is no freedom.

Hey, I've read through the act and I from my point of view support it:

They do not take down webpages from outside the US - that is legally impossible - what they can do is fining providers if they do not block a website that intentionally (after being warned before) still spreads copyrighted content. The copyrighted content is also clearly defined here (in contrast to SOPA). It is - full parts of movies - Games - Copyrighted pictures - intellectual property (like academic writings etc.)
