This video clip as brought back some very fond memories, as my cousins used to work in dreamland in the late 1970's and early 1980's I used to know most of the fairground workers & especially the two Guys that worked on the Scenic Railway & who used to have to walk the scenic Railway track everyday....Also the father & son who owned the dodgems....I have photos of us all somewhere, must dig em out ....RIP Dreamland u are deeply missed.....We have heard it will be reopened in 2012..Lets just see!

The old girl will be up and running sooner than you think. It has just been announced that the Government has awarded 3.7 million pounds towards the rebuilding of the Dreamland Heritage Park.

Let's hope it will be fixed! It is part of Margate's history!

I remember going to Margate at only 3 years old and enjoying the rides there, and my last ride on this rollercoaster was back when I was 10 (13 now)
Good memories... shame it's gone =(

I used to enjoy Dreamland too. There were some great rides in the old days - including a house that turned upside down!

That looked like a cool ride, long as well. Sad someone had to burn it down. Was either some punk firebug kids, Or a developer wanted to get rid of it somehow as it was protected, so had someone set fire to it. Or a past disgruntled employee. Anyone who wants to set fire to a historic relic like that, deserves karma to strike them back and their own home burning to the ground. Never rode this, live in the US, in PA, 160 miles from Leap The Dips, 107 years old. Worlds oldest running coaster.

Yes, it was a great ride, and a fantastic funfair in its time! We will probably never know how it caught fire and burnt down. The structure was supposed to be protected and Thanet Council should be ashamed of themselves for allowing Dreamland to be dismantled.
