I only heard elders spoke of the Mong ancient flute "Raaj Zaag" or "Dragon Flute". It is amazing I finally found it. This flue is one of the most ancient of all Mong flute, and not many know how to play it anymore.

  • people here seem to know alot about hmong history .. pls tell me if u know about these hmong jungle people..

  • @kongcyaj Thanks for your question. They call themselve Mong. They are saying they were not original "Miao" but were categorized into "Miao". The are not Jungle people, but their ancestors took refuge into the soutwest mountains.

  • @HmongUniverse

thanks for ur response, I went to J4 and saw those videos again. The were called ma quas (sp) ..

  • @kongcyaj I think you may got them mixed up with Mong. Mong are not "ma quas" as you said. You should go to Guizhou to visit these people to get to know them. They called themself Mong and speak the Mong language.

  • i hate the chinese took over are land we were the first one living there first it should be are land man only if "chi you" or Txiv Ywj didnt die we would of won and united

  • Chi You was not "Txiv Yawg" as miss-understood by many Mong. I understand how wrong information can lead one to miss-judge past events.

  • I remember seeing my parents watch a hmong documentary a while back about these hmong jungle people ( not the refugees in laos) who were naked like africans and south americans from the amazon. They seem to speak a similiar version of the hmong language. I just would like to know how they got there .. possibly got lost or seperated when comming from china?

  • it ok...what happen in the past let it be.....this is the future we just need to unite and stop..acting like your better than other hmong when we are just he same

  • @HmongUniverse yes he is...

  • The music, the culture, and the faces of the Hmong people is an indication of how the Hmong survived...you don't know until you met a Hmong and live with his or her family...

  • It looks exactly like a 'raj xyoob' just held and played vertically versus horizontally. I saw a similar SE Asia Hmong playing a similar style bamboo flute. I agree it is not typical or many left who know and play this flute. Take the 'qeej' or lusheng for example. Few Western Hmong appreciate it.
