The US Government did nothing or very little to slow or stop "Out Sourcing" to India and later Communist China. Later this was exacerbated by the passage of the Central American Free Trade Agreement(CAFTA). In the coming Presidential Administrations Republican OR Democrat this out sourcing was allowed to continue. President Obama did try to discourage out sourcing, but was blocked by Republicans who gave huge Tax Breaks to the Billionaires while seeking to eliminate or reduce needed social programs such as Social Security. This while giving no relief the dwindling numbers of the once great Middle Class. Half of my job went to Eagle Ottawa Mexico while in 2001 the other half went to Master Craft(Eagle Ottawa) in Rochester Michigan. I was not able to get TRA because I had junior employees under me. In order to get TRA{Trade Readjustment Allowance), you have to exhaust your seniority and be "on the street". EOLC's/ union TRA agreement was only for 1.5 years. When I left the company, the TRA option was not available.
EOLC is still in business with their Master Craft EOLC Rochester Michigan plant. Their headquarters are now in Auburn Hills Michigan.
