BMW 16x9 Widescreen Navigation Display
[16x9]

BMW 16:9 Widescreen Display

Widescreen Displays are simple upgrades for the 7 series (E38), 5 Series (E39), 3 Series (E46) & X5. If your BMW is equipped with the older 4:3 navigation monitor upgrading to the widescreen display is a simple plug and play. Widescreen displays function perfectly with the MKII, MKIII and MKIV navigation computers.

PLEASE NOTE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:

The widescreen display is just a display. There is no navigation function with this unit. You can not install the widescreen navigation display in a car that does not have navigation and assume that it will work. If your car does not have navigation you will need one of the full navigation retrofit kits that we offer on our website

The navigation display is a cosmetic upgrade from the smaller 4:3 navigation display. It is a simple plug and play upgrade that you remove the old navigation display and replace with the widescreen. You will not need any firmware upgrades or dealer coding with this item. Simply plug in the unit and then your cars navigation system will function with the new display. Customers with the TV function must have a TV video module that supports 16:9 widescreen function. (check in the settings menu of your Television if equipped) Customers with the very old mki navigation system with television function will meed to remove the Television function and upgrade the navigation system as well.
The widescreen display works with the mkii, mkiii, and mkiv navigation computers without any additional upgrades (BMWs from 1998 and newer).

If diagnosing a fault with your current navigation system and your navigation display is BLANK, it is most likely NOT the navigation display that is the problem, however the navigation computer that is at fault. Navigation displays rarely if ever go out, but the navigation computers are typically what become faulty over time. You can easily upgrade the mkii, and mkiii system with the mkiv navigation computers we offer on our website. A good test for detecting if your navigation computer is not functioning properly in cars equipped with the DSP audio system is to check if the radio shuts itself off after 2 minutes with the car on. The DSP amp has a failsafe mode that shuts down the radio function every 2 minutes when it detects a navigation computer fault. The display, if faulty, should not effect the functioning of the dsp amp.

Widescreen and small screen displays rarely go out, however the navigation computers are a more common faulty component in cars especially equipped with the mkiii navigation computer system
