cairo dock opengl looks great but its kinda glitchy for me and also sometimes i need to restart because it gets stuck. So great for the visuals a bit worse for functionality.

@LordSesshomaru66 go to settings/sytem/composition and try messing with those options.

@redmistpete Then I suggest Docky. It's actually a standalone dock now that splintered off of the Gnome-Do project. It's not as flashy but as far as functionality and ease of use it is light years ahead of Cairo or AWN. Search "Docky Launchpad" for the repository.

How do you add a launcher? Drag and drop doesn't work for me (works for some launchers but not others) and "Add launcher" only seems lets you create a new one now; there's no browser to navigate to a per-existing desktop launcher like in the older versions. Cairo Dock is the only thing (again) that is stopping my Ubuntu system from being perfect on my Eee PC 1001HA.

1- enable compositing (install compiz)
OR
2- use the no-openGL version of Cairo dock if your computer is too slow to run compiz.

I'm not a huge fan of docks but this is definitely one to watch anyway ^_^
