The peter the great statue is controversial because it's so ugly, and it's actually of Columbus. Some American city passed on it but the sculptor is good friends with Moscow mayor.

And yes, I do have to scratch my head over the exact names of buildings and monuments, but I can give you a dissertation on the effects of the Russian Revolution.
