  • Yes it is just fine. I can't think of any 'prominent' baritone today as good as Cappuccilli.

  • Lovely. Cappuccilli was such a fine solid singer. I think he held the final "figlia" just a touch long, but no matter ;D

  • Grande duetto!!! Oltre al grande Cappuccilli anche la signora Ricciarelli qui è molto brava...c'è stato un periodo in cui la signora Ricciarelli ha cantato molto bene...bellissima direzione...grazie

  • tenorismo.- you are right, I think. Who, do you think, was a true "tenore robusto"?

When singing in Madrid long time o go, Cappuccilli told me that he could have been a tenor. I don't know if he was a tenor or a baritone with good top, but he sang as a Verdi baritone and, indeed, he told the story. His color was sufficient for me.

However, keep in mind that Bastianini was around this world at the beginning of his carrier, so we thought that Cappuccilli was in the light side.

  • @pepeelsordo You are what you are If your a tenor the meat of your voice will be in that register. Now their are tenors with out a top , and baritones with out a bottom. Del MOnaco is the perfect example. How many calim that you must be a " tenore robusto " to sing Otello. Del Monaco wasn not robusto . Yet no other tenore can sing E'sultate as Del Monaco did. Cappuccilli is a Verdi baritone. He interperts the emotion of a father finding his long lost daughter.

  • tenorismo: you are right about Placido singing asa baritone. But how can it be that he had such a success at La Scala?

People who go to the opera in these days have lost referance. Nobody knows what a true baritone should sound, much less, the disctintion between a Verdi baritone and a light baritone.

The same about tenors: almost all of them singing today are singing in a much havier repertoire than the one corresponding to their voice color.

Well, this art has changed. What a pity!!!

  • The Idea that that that villen Domingo is singing Boccanegra makes me vomit retch retch He cannot carry Cappucillis dirty underware

  • ShawDamon - perhaps too long, but so beautiful and "live" music at that. Simply stunning.

  • Beautiful, flexible, expressive conducting by Oliviero De Fabritiis!

  • Entrambi straordinari, Ricciarelli magistrale
