Tsukamoto is a really excellent human being ( I don't say that about many people). He has his own dojo and I have visited a couple times. It is very pleasant but hardcore at the same time. Anyone who wants to learn Shinkyokushinkai, I could not recommend him highly enough. He is a super intelligent, super creative fighter. He may even take you surfing which is his other great love outside of martial arts.

@gyromancy2 bcs putting the gloves changes all(k1, mma..)but for mma they shoud know bjj, and they are training martial art karate....which is the stronger, they dont need bjj...mma is unreal just bcs off bjj!and those 6 karatekas in mma are training traditional karate.they are fighting for the art like machida.and there are many others from sport karate who put kickbox as their combat sport.and if you put the gloves you will cover up seiken!!! first learn ehat is trad. karate and than talk!

Why dont the MMA guys act like men and try knockdown karate?
They are different sports, and there are not really much reason for a top fighter to switch over.
Most kyokushin/knockdown karate fighters who want to go pro go to kickboxing -where they are doing well after some adaptions
It takes time to get to the top level in knockdown karate. Then it takes time to adapt to kickboxing, and to then go into MMA takes you close to retirement age. Or you could stay and exel in karate.

I concur,
I had the chance o meet Tsukamoto sensei in the last world cup, he was extremely nice and approachable. He even went to a club with us afterwards!
why couldn't the idiots of Pride FC sign this guy?? Dammit I'm sick of wrestlers flooding MMA. Why can't you karate guys act like men and try MMA?? there's only like 2 good ones in right now

gyromancy2,
Small MMA organizations in Japan are flooded with karate guys. This is because karate is probably the first "striking" martial art there. So everyone that does a "striking" art is in some way or another connected to karate.
Even Japanese kickboxing has its roots in karate (along with Muay Thai). It's only in the U.S., and in organizations that have deep connections to Zuffa/UFC (Pride, Sengoku, etc), that you don't see many karateka.

charanzable,
There may be more, but, unfortunately, these are the only parts I have.
