@stonersintuitions none of the lyrics have anything to do with drinking or driving. "...choose water over wine" is almost certainly a vague reference to denying religion because of how it's used to program large numbers of people (the hive). Incubus have always been anti-religion. The song overall is about meeting every day with an open mind ('eyes') and taking your own path in life by not letting outside forces - whatever or whomever they may be - dictate it for you.
