Green Foundation's Mr. Srikanth explains the indigenous method of improving the fertility and water holding capacity of dry sandy soils. The black soils or silt from a lake bed are transported and applied on to these land. The lake's depth is increased by removing the silt, which improves its water harvesting ability. Simultaneously, the black soil improves dry farm land, particularly that have suffered during summer droughts
