I Don't Love You: Chapter 20

I was feeling nice, so, 2 in 1 instead of pt 1&pt 2 :)

I spent the night at Zori's.
I really wanted a change of scenery from my usual setting. It was not so much as wanted as it was needed a change of scenery. My green and lilac walls were no longer comforting and my window was closed almost always. Why?
My window looked out onto the Jonas household, to Kevins room.
I was used to opening it and having conversations with him.
Mostly, I needed to get away from the Jonas family and from Aunt Wendy, for at least one night.
It was fun while it lasted because Zori didnt want to shut up about the supposed breakthrough that had happened with Kevin.
"If he kissed you," she argued, "he's still in love with you."
I gave her a look of 'please, just stop.' She couldnt tell how much it hurt to just think about him, so I made it easy for her and faked a smile and said "Let's just watch a movie, kay?"
I hoped she didnt see past my charade. But, how could she not?
"Okay," she smiled back. I could tell her smile was also fake but the only thing behind it was worry, not heartbreak, like mine.

I woke up the next morning to Zori jumping on me.
"Come ON, sleepyhead!! Get UP!!!"
I groaned and opened my eyes. "What time is it?" I asked.
"What do you mean what time?" she asked. "Don't you mean what date?"
I checked my cell phone. 2:30 pm. Wow, I could sleep. And it was August 15th. August 15th? No, it couldnt be! I jumped up, sending Zori to the floor.
"Ow," she mumbled.
"Sorry!!" I said while getting up. "You're right! Gosh, I'm late!" I gathered up my things and got dressed in a hurry.
While I was running around her room, Zori looked at me.
"So I guess you're in on Joes surprise party today?" she asked after a while.
"In on it? Im one of the planners!" I slipped on my Converse and ran out the door. "Bye!" I yelled to Zori.
I ran down the block towards my house to get some quick breakfast. Aunt Wendy told me what I already knew "You're late!" she said. "Now get over there, Denise already called to see where you were!"
I grabbed a breakfast bar from the counter and was about to leave when Aunt Wendy shouted after me. I walked back to the house and she gave me a wrapped box. Joe's present she said. I thanked her for buying for me. I think she understood why I had forgotten to buy one. I walked over to the Jonas house and knocked on the door. I was greeted by a frantic Mrs. Jonas.
"Stella!" she exclaimed. "Where have you been? Never mind, the boys already left and now we only have" she looked at her watch "Three hours to get this place ready!"
I though she was kidding when she said 3 hours. That'd be enough time! But knowing Mrs. Jonas as the perfectionist she was, that wouldnt be enough.
I asked her what I had to do. "Everything!" she replied and we started our long afternoon.
