Such a sweet and classical voice , what a range. It is such a pity that she was given hard time by the Mangeshkars. She truly deserved more opportunities and recognition. She is very comfortable going to the higher notes and does not lose the sweetness in her voice.Thank you for posting the song.

I'm assuming you're referring to the incident where the Mangeshkars are alleged to have evicted Vani Jairam from her Bombay home under duress? I've heard/read this a number of times, but is it really true? That the sisters were ferociously competitive is well known, but would they stoop so low?

It is astonishing how these people could sing so beautifully without unnecessary histrionics on stage. Now you have assholes like Vishal Dadlani and Mika who say "gane me sur se jyada important josh hain"... God save Indian music..

I like all most all singers for their best songs and feel "wow" but when it comes to Vani Jairam's song, I feel an extraordinary satisfaction and often left with tears if I concentrate and listen alone for her amount of perfection in every letter in a song and every 'swara' behind it.. I think she's a music angel and also I feel that she got very very less than what she actually deserves.. she's the greatest singer whom this century has seen; always number of songs do not matter all !!

This song from the movie GUDDI and playback:VANI JOIRAM Lyric: GULZAR and Music:Vasant Desai.40year ago she was young and had very beautiful voice.45yrs ago Salil DA(Chowdhury) wrote an article in a film magazine where he confessed that MD are more responsible than Latajee.Most MD used to think if the listeners don't welcome(those days people used to buy records now they buy CDs of old songs)Only person O.P.N. did not ask for Latajee. Bottom Line: Time & Tide waits for None.

Continue:the new singers. Yes,only in one point I differ. Latajee could ask the MDs withother artists. That probably she did not do. I am not sure.Take a look O.P. Nayyar never asked for Latajee and his movies were Box Office Hit.The song by Vani Joyram is also originally presented by Latajee so far I think. But Vani also unmatchable.

I'll try inshort:Lata has been accused of being on way of other singers.3&half decades ago I was reading an article of Late Salil DA(Chowdhury) and as his version music directors were more responsible than Lata.The Movie producers wanted the songs recoding first so that they can earn the money before movie is released.Music Directors were afraid of if the listener and movie goers don't accept.
