@escortmk112 books don't take time to boot up, they don't crash, or get viruses. and they employ thousands of people to distribute. this is not waste. it's about choice if people choose to do this then it's not waste. it's not the gov. money to call waste.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the company that's suggesting this is 1. online (so not available to everyone) and 2. charges for providing the information on their site. doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why they are campaigning for this. Also - phone books are free!

a very biased view - let's face it put together by a company only offering an online service. Many people and businesses rely on the phone book (particularly Yellow Pages) to promote their business - i would challenge people to try a search google vs yellow pages - bet you find the book is quicker (from a standing start in your living room) - have tried it and I was shocked how much more efficient the book is and I'm a tech lover!

I approve of this campaign as I always put any phonebook that arrives at my place straight in the bin. Us modern people use Google or other online directories.

Brilliant
A very one sided opinion, ime wondering what it cost to fire up a p.c keep it running to find a number shut it down again and then scrap it at the end of its day.

Although the idea of ending phone book production is noble (reducing waste and saving energy etc) we cant forget the many people who do not have computers, or other means of finding contact info for people, businesses and services. Perhaps if they were produced 'to order' instead of an estimmated demand at least a cut back in the figures quoted would be achieved whilst still serving those who cant Google...
