Something to Believe In, performed live in Yokohama (1996). On record, Jon sings a C5 in full chest.

When performed live however, they do it a semi-tone lower. Not sure what note he hits during the live version, but it is still very high and was suggested to be a B4 in full chest.

Jon's voice was already showing signs of decline by this time, as evidenced by his nasal sounding vocals and his performances of Bed of Roses.

Newly added: I should mention that Jon seems to have taken his vocals more seriously lately, because he's singing a lot better than he was during 2002-2006. He's even performing ALWAYS again, in the original arrangement. How amazing is that? I for one, honestly thought he was never going to sing that song ever again...imagine my suprise, moved me to tears.

  • Jon's change in voice technique also seems to have helped him evolve and change becoming still one of the greatest singers ever. Thank goodness they arent touring with the "where are they now" bands(see poison).

  • Take a look at Axl Rose,Sebastian Bach,Tempest they all were great singers...now they all are almost ridicolus ...jonny's voice has a vantage... it's so particoular and he don't need to scream to be great. He knows how to sing...this performance's huge! I think this means SINGING not SHOUTING as some rockers do... I think jonny's one of the best...the best? RONNIE JAMES DIO through it all ...I still be a BON JOVI'S FAN and I WILL ALWAYS BE.BYE GUYS AND...BY MY GIRLS ;-) (THE ITALIAN PRINCIPE)

  • This live is unbelievable, amazing!

  • he does have my respect well rounded to much to list been there and still could give a better speech than the pres, very positive, leads the show, wish I could see but way to much ,madness in the reality thing,,6 stars on my chart! hits all the way home, the boss and him,may had the same babysitter?cool now

  • im so happy he started to sing always again the proper way...i thought we were gonna be stuck wth this left feels right versions of always and bed of roses for the rest of our lives but jon must have taken his vocal coach real seriously the last couple of years, and hopefully stopped smoking for real as well, its quite obvious that his voice is much better than 02-08 ish, even tho its sometimes flatter than it was then, he can reach notes he couldnt then.

  • check this song in Sidney 2010 .He sing not worse than this.

  • Decline in his voice?:O I don't think so

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I enjoy it to, find it very interesting as im sure others do to.

  • @evodevo69 i do agree with you that he sang bad i 2002-2006 or 2008 but now in the circle tour he sing a lot better what do yu say about something to believe in at o2 he reaches the high notes dont ya think so??

  • This is a good performance but Jon's voice here never did it for me. He sounds more like he's just 'wailing' (sp?) than singing. What do I know, though?

  • jon's voice is soaring here. I do believe his technique has improved since the Slippery days. For example, hte way he finishes verses, expression and musicality. That's one advantage Jon has over other singers - musicality. Does anyone else get what I mean?

  • @AzEvanz Funny you should say that - Richie's harmonising on this line is the best I've heard!
