Why is it bad to be an elite? Can someone tell me the logic behind that? And why am I necessarily bad for getting angry when someone says I'm an idiot for bettering myself by going to get a Ph.D? This video is fucking retarded. You don't have to have gotten your graduate degree from an Ivy League to get a job teaching philosophy. Maybe to teach at a very prestigious university, but not to teach it at a CC for instance. In which you'd probably make just as much too.

The study of philosophy can help you become a better person and citizen but it is of marginal economic value. When it comes to making a living you're better off learning a trade or technical skill. Remember, the world doesn't owe you a living, it was here first.
