Foreign nationals of the Republic of the Philippines (ROP) are stranded in the USA on a B-2 nonimmigrant visitor status because of the catastrophic event and natural disaster affecting their country.
On September 26, 2009, Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) brought a month's worth of rainfall to Metro Manila and nearby areas in just a few hours, causing severe flooding which resulted in the loss of many lives and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.
The humanitarian crisis is so severe flood victims need food or supplies or to be rescued immediately.
UPDATE (10/02/2009): Villagers are bracing for the possibility of a second storm disaster just days after one that killed hundreds in the Philipoines, Vietnam and Laos and displaced over 400,000 people in the region.
ROP President Cruz warned that approaching Typhoon Parma expected to hit country's main island of Luzon on Saturday morning (10/03/2009) could easily trigger floods in Manila, whose main rivers and tributaries were still swollen from the record rainfalls caused by Ketsana last weekend.
