I love the music bed. When the anchor wrapped up his closing word, the camera at the edge of the desk was lined up perfectly with the width of the desk. Interesting robotic camera movements.
@HartCourtMovieNerd@HartCourtMovieNerd Maybe Joyce Kulhawik or other WBZ anchors might have mentioned Johnny's last Tonight Show, but maybe you're right. Jack should have mentioned the final Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson at the end of the newscast before signing-off.
WBZ (and a few other Boston stations) were one the early adopters of robotic cameras, especially in the upper end of the large markets. The camera op unions must had a heluvla of a time regressing the new technology at that time everywhere when the robots made the scene.

@pooka5472 I would have to double check the tape but I don't recall him mentioning it.

@MrMichaelChua Well, maybe Jack did mention it, but the uploader just didn't include it in the video.

WBZ never used any formal signatures (or "melody" in your words) in their theme packages to tell you the truth. You are making up tunes, I guess.

I think it dates back from 1987-92 actually.

I like that studio a lot. I assume it was used from 1989-92?

I've noticed something in the studio: They were using automatic cameras (run by remote control).

Well, it's their entire branding now.
