As the title says, the Prototype Avro Vulcan being barrel rolled at Farnborough 1955 (year could be wrong).

The footage is taken from the V-Bombers documentary Engineering Britain's Super Weapons, which is a very good & interesting watch.

Very proud to also have this featured in a top 10 video vote.

  • @JimforbesRitte Agree. Still, we might not operate a strategic bomber force anymore, but at least we can take solace from the fact that we featherbed our army of teenage single parents with handsome benefits & free housing. Who needs a Harrier force, or aircraft carriers when you can squander money on benefit HANDOUTS?! The DHS- reinforcing failure on a grand scale, makes me proud to be British. NOT. HMS Great Britain, dead in the water & sinking fast.........Disgusting.

  • 1955: Britain was at the forefront of Aeronautical technology. Then the numbercrunchers behind their desks stuck their uninformed noses in, and bit by bit our lead was lost. BOAC's truculence lead to a fleet of Boeing 707's instead of the superior VC-10. The TSR-2, way ahead of it's time - cancelled. Consecutive useless governments killed our jets. Oh, it makes me want to cry! - And now our Harriers for the frankly useless Raptor. The BASTARDS!

  • Wow! That was sweet. I can commiserate with the commenters here. In Canada we had an air craft industry once too. Now we are going to buy F-35 flying shite. Sad. Peace

  • @wyzarme Yeah, realise that, but whatever it is, it's not fit for purpose. If I were in charge [which, thank God I'm not, nor ever will be], I'd do with them what the RAF did with the Bell P-39 - get rid of them sharpish. Then instigate a next generation Harrier programme, whilst retaining enough of the old ones to equip our new carrier. The Lightning II should be designated 'Cat 5' before we even get them, it's that poor. Why do you think the yanks want us to have them, eh? 'Cos they're shite.

  • @brianartillery It's not the Raptor. It's the Lightening II.

  • @mr9396 yeah ;'(

  • @brianartillery Thank you. I totally agree. Once we were flying our supersonic airliners, Concorde, state of the art planes like the Harrier and Lightnings, but now we are replacing these works of British brilliance with crappy F35's. Britain, SORT YOURSELF OUT! MAKE US PROUD TO BE BRITISH!

  • remember when we had an air force?

  • @4NICK8TER1 PMSL , If the facts are against you call the other guy names !!! Sad but typical !!

You & Wiki were made fro each other !!

  • @MrSuniman Wow..your a dipshit..take you nonsense else where... thank you

  • @4NICK8TER1 In 1955 altitude was king ! You don't use mottled green at high level. Following the Gary Power incident of 1960 low level bombing became the norm & the white colour schemes went the way of the Dodo.

Don't quote great chunks of Wiki, learn your subject !

  • @MrSuniman "Anti-flash white is a brilliant white color commonly seen on United States, British and Soviet nuclear bombers.[1] The purpose of the color was to reflect some of the thermal radiation from a nuclear explosion, protecting the aircraft and its occupants" - Wikipedia
